How to Make a Claim

This guide describes step by step what people need to do to bring a claim at the employment tribunal if they think they have been discriminated against by their current employer or by a former employer if they have been dismissed. It provides details on taking a claim to tribunal in England, Wales and Scotland; and also in Northern Ireland. It also gives some helpful hints on an individual’s rights and how to obtain evidence.

On 1 October 2010 the Equality Act came into force.  The Act brings together several different laws protecting people from discrimination, including the Age Regulations.  Information about discrimination and related claims arising before and after 1 October can be found on the Government Equalities Office website.
