Our staff come from a wide range of professional backgrounds. They have experience of working for blue chip companies, trade unions and public sector and not for profit organisations.
Chris Ball is Chief Executive of TAEN. Prior to joining TAEN he was a freelance journalist, an HR consultant and a national officer of the union MSF (now Unite), where his responsibilities included the non-profit sector and the working environment.
Chris has worked with large and medium sized private sector companies in engineering, chemicals and pharmaceuticals as well as the statutory and third sectors. His experience includes employee relations, workplace health issues and diversity as well as conducting evidence-based research and investigations into sensitive issues. He led several campaigns around employment rights issues, working in parliament and elsewhere. Chris has written on work for the London Evening Standard, The Guardian and various other papers.
He is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, holds a doctorate in industrial relations from the London School of Economics and is a member of the government agency, the Central Arbitration Committee.
Keith is Business Manager at TAEN and acts as deputy to the Chief Executive.
Keith previously pursued a varied career in the private sector, specialising mostly in sales and marketing and general management roles. His corporate career ended prematurely in mid-life and like so many older workers, found himself confronted with barriers to finding a new job.
Serendipity led him to Wise Owls - a specialist recruitment agency for the over 45s and TAEN member - based in Hackney where he was chiefly responsible for PR and marketing.
Corinna is Communications and Operations Manager at TAEN
Corinna worked in the private sector, where she focused on corporate communications, before joining TAEN. She spent many years with an international news and information company and has worked in the insurance industry.
Like her colleagues, Corinna has had a varied career. She became a teacher on graduating and taught in the UK and Hong Kong before deciding to change direction. She has also previously worked for a small charity.
Isabella is Business Development Manager at TAEN. Prior to joining TAEN in June 2011, she initiated and project managed a series of sustainable volunteer-delivered executive job clubs, helping older unemployed managers, on behalf of a small charity, the Branshaw Foundation
She started her career working as a careers adviser with young people and older clients in Somerset, Walsall and Harrow. After having a family, she became a training adviser, delivering apprenticeships and a range of commercial training courses, followed by managing a diverse training company in the Thames Valley.
As European Social Fund Project Manager, Hana is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Age Management Technical Assistance project that TAEN – The Age and Employment Network started in early 2008. She has been closely involved in the development and dissemination of 50+ Works, the good practice guide and toolkit for welfare to work providers supporting older jobseekers.
On graduating from Charles University in the Czech Republic, Hana joined the Research Institute for Education in Prague as a researcher and assisted with a national project verifying a new school curriculum funded by the European Social Fund. While studying, she worked for several years as an adviser for an insurance and financial consulting company.
Caroline manages TAEN’s information line for individuals and is responsible for office administration. Before joining TAEN, she spent several years as a carer. She had previously worked in the NHS.
Zelia is responsible for the administration of TAEN’s accounts and managing the membership and other databases.
Zelia spent most of her career in the aviation industry in Trinidad where she held a number of managerial positions. Latterly she was responsible for maintenance costing and aircraft maintenance marketing. On first coming to the UK, she worked as a practice and financial manager for a specialist dental practice.
